The Purposeful Investor podcast.

Contented co-founder Hannah Hardy-Jones joined David Andrew and Aden Wilkins on their Purposeful Investor podcast. The conversation focused on what AI can actually do in business and society, with a focus on enhancing human experience rather than replacing it. The key message: technology works best when it creates space for people to do what they do best, connect, create, and care.
The Purposeful Investor is a fortnightly podcast from the team at Capital Partners, featuring thoughtful conversations about markets, leadership, psychology, and the lessons picked up along the way. Capital Partners has been awarded the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) Professional Practice of the Year for 2024, for the third time. Not a small deal.
Hannah shared how Contented's mission evolved from teaching people about AI to building tools that solve real business problems. The starting point matters: human needs and pain points first, technology second.
"We see a world where people talk more like people," she said.
The conversation also touched on how AI is already woven through daily life, from predictive text to Netflix recommendations. The tools are accessible, but most people struggle to figure out which ones are useful for them.
The human side of technology
One key theme: AI's potential to free up human capital for more meaningful work. David Andrew, founder of Capital Partners, spoke about the frustration of asking talented young professionals to spend their days on mundane admin. He sees AI as a way to lift both employee and client experience by automating things like meeting notes and data retrieval.
Better client relationships
The discussion got into how AI tools free professionals up to focus on the relationships that matter. David noted that automating the admin lets his team deliver more value through real connection. That maps directly to what we're doing at Contented: using technology to amplify human expertise, not replace it.
"I want to be completely transparent with our clients listening to this. We will, we must, implement AI to help us with things like meeting notes and tasks," David said. "And they will experience a more customer-intimate business from Capital Partners than a less customer-intimate business."
The conversation also tackled the usual fears and misconceptions. Hannah was firm on the need for transparency and control, particularly around data privacy. She shared a story about her doctor's concerns that AI might replace human roles, using it to make the point about clearly communicating AI's purpose and its limits.
Looking forward
Hannah is excited about AI's potential to actually grow human-centric skills, in education and at work. She sees a future where people communicate better and spend more time developing leadership and interpersonal skills, while AI handles the routine cognitive tasks.
David shared the same optimism, framing AI as essential for businesses navigating rising human capital costs and workforce shortages. He also pointed to its potential for reducing errors and improving efficiency in financial services.
We're glad to be part of this shift, helping organisations create space for what actually matters: genuine human interaction. As David put it:
"No one wants to do boring work and no one wants to give anyone boring work."
The episode is worth a listen for anyone weighing up AI for their business, or just curious about where this is all going.
