How farmers are using AI-powered voice recording to share multi-language communication.

Contented co-founder Hannah Hardy-Jones spoke to Countrywide Connect — a show focused on the agriculture sector — to share how recorded on-farm conversations can turn into summaries, action lists, minutes, and letters, in any language.
That last part is a key feature. About 20,000 seasonal workers from 10 different countries come to New Zealand every year, with the vast majority taking on horticultural jobs picking, packing, and carrying out tasks on orchards and vineyards.
Teams at these producers are multilingual, timelines are tight, and getting key information such as health and safety briefings across clearly creates a communication challenge.
Because Contented can generate outputs in any language toolbox talks, health and safety conversations, and team meetings can all be turned into documentation, summaries, action lists and emails that make sense to the people receiving them.
As Hannah shared, the impact we're seeing for customers managing seasonal workforces has been significant, and it's one of the areas where we're growing fastest right now.
"We've got one client in the estate asparagus and strawberry growing space and for their seasonal workers...being able to have a health and safety meeting or a toolbox talk and create those outputs in the language of their workers is hugely beneficial.
"One of our largest [client] is Synlait," Hannah told CountryWide Connect. "They use Contented across every part of the organisation from the manufacturing side through to their board meetings. And one thing that's really helpful for them is that their board is half in China, so they can create their board minutes in Mandarin and English at the click of a button, which is obviously transformative."
Contented's apps also make it easy to use across the organisation, where most conversations don't happen behind a desk:
"One of the things that we're so excited about is this idea that actually it's on-the-go conversations," Hannah told CountryWide Connect. "It's out, in the wind, in all weather. Whether it's knowledge transfer, whether it's accurate records on farm, whether it's simply a vet coming to visit and being able to record that and have really accurate records."
