Contented supports transparency and trust.
Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust is a not-for-profit trust and the largest community and affordable housing provider in the South Island. With a team of 60 handling a diverse range of conversations - from board meetings to sensitive tenant discussions - the organisation needed a secure, confidential tool that suited all those scenarios.
Chief Executive Cate Kearney heard Contented co-founder Hannah Hardy-Jones on RNZ and saw the opportunity.
The Trust has now rolled Contented out to all 13 managers, and it’s used across the full breadth of the organisation. Board minutes are captured accurately without a dedicated minute-taker needing to write everything up afterwards. Manager and employee meetings are recorded with consent, and a copy is sent to the staff member to confirm the record. Leadership meetings, performance conversations, development plans, and even quick solo voice notes are all captured through Contented.
“It really has changed how we do business,” Cate says. “It’s so easy to use. It left me wondering why we had waited so long to have such an amazing tool.”
The Trust also uses Contented for risk analysis, feeding information into the platform and using it to identify key risks from a document or discussion.

Contented is built for sensitive conversations - it's SOC 2 Type I compliant and meets enterprise-grade security standards. That security is key - particularly for an organisation handling sensitive tenant and employment conversations.
“It’s completely secure for our most confidential conversations,” Cate says. “Nothing can leak out.”
Another standout feature is accuracy. Cate had used transcription tools before and found them unreliable. Contented is different, particularly with Kiwi accents.
“I can’t argue with Contented because it was in the room taking an accurate record. It makes things really very straightforward.”
What does it mean for the organisation?
Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust runs a busy operation with a lean team. Contented has reduced the administrative load for 13 managers, replacing manual note-taking with accurate, timely records. Board minutes that once required significant effort from both the CE and an EA are now produced reliably through the platform.
What does it mean for people?
Contented supports transparency and trust across the organisation. For tenants and staff, conversations are captured fairly, securely, and accurately. When a manager meets with an employee, the record is sent to that person afterwards so they can confirm it reflects what was said.
What does it mean for the individual?
For Cate and her managers, Contented removes a layer of pressure from every meeting. There is no scramble to write things up afterwards, no relying on memory or Outlook tasks, and no arguing over what was said.
Managers can be present in conversations rather than heads-down taking notes. Cate can walk into a room, capture a thought, and move on.
The tool fits around how the team works, rather than adding another process to manage.
