Progressive Meats runs two slaughterhouses, two boning rooms, and a cold store from its site in Hastings, processing lamb and beef for customers in NZ and overseas. They're driven by the phrase "continuous improvement", and are always looking for better ways to do things, whether that's productivity, resourcing, or the quality of what reaches the customer.

Successfully running an operation with more than 400 staff means a lot of meetings, customer check-ins, operational reviews, HR conversations, and one-on-ones.

Before Contented, all of those valuable conversations needed someone there to jot it all down by hand, then piece together a summary afterwards to capture what had been said and agreed.

In the spirit of doing things better, Contented has been rolled out across the senior management team. Notes from back-to-back meetings are completed in 5 minutes instead of 30. Contented is used across a broad range of conversations at Progressive Meats. Weekly customer meetings get a clean, concise summary sent out promptly after the call, speeding up how quickly clients hear back. Disciplinary and attendance meetings are summarised into the key points needed for formal follow-up correspondence. ACC planning sessions, root cause analyses, and one-on-ones all have comprehensive records.

And with note-taking no longer competing for attention, the team in the room has more of themselves to give to each conversation.

"Everyone can be a lot more present and involved in the meeting," Isabel says.
